Time to Bid Adieu

Alright so as you may have noticed, this blog has come to an end. Welcome to my last entry folks. I'm considering starting a new site for my future adventures but that's just an idea down the road somewhere.

My final thoughts for readers - travel whenever you can. But do keep a budget in mind so you're not struggling so much upon returning to that familiar place called home. It's been a year since my solo trip to India and I don't regret the voyage one bit. I get very nostalgic when I browse through the photos I captured and the lovely people I met. And I'm extra thankful to my Montreal friends and family who helped me stick through some of the low times I experienced as well.

My past year at home has been extra fabulous! I didn't realise it immediately but as I reflect back the trip has opened my mind in a lot of ways. I'm following my heart and letting those sneaky doubts subside. I'm doing a lot more journalistic work than ever before and I'm meeting a lot of wonderful people; this is just the beginning though.

In a few months time I'll be pursuing an M.A in my favourite city - New York City! There's so much I have to get done in the short time that's left in between, so the hustle and bustle of life continues!

Wish me luck! Thank you for reading! And happy travels!

Montreal Fashion Week

I checked out the Barila fashion show last night as Montreal Fashion Week came to an end. My friends and I reached Bonsecours Market a bit late and couldn't find our seats - we got in just minutes before the show was starting and the place was rammed. Upon entering we were pushed and shoved and shooed away from one spot to the next . Talk about hectic! In all the frenzy I even lost my apartment keys (I won't even start on that!)

But once the curtains rose the place fell silent. All eyes were glued on to the models (and that's when we finally managed to secure some seats).

I sat there taking in the entire scene. It felt quite surreal with the bright lights and the cameras and the fashion critics swiftly jotting notes, almost like a scene out of the Devil Wears Prada. The entire hoopla lasted no more than 20 minutes. After which there was a schmooze-fest at the bar we were led down to.

Quite an intriguing evening - but I'm happy to be back in my reality.

Travel Bug

I’ve had it with this blimey snow. I’m getting better winter boots for next year. My toes freeze up in the ones I currently own. Summer come here already!
A lot of my friends are travelling right now. I’d like to escape the winter also. One friend will be in Colombia for a few more months teaching women how to make jewellery. Another is landing in Brazil and then backpacking through little bits of everywhere. And a third just returned from Africa – he actually climbed Mount Kilimanjaro!
If I could, I’d spend half the year just travelling.  Does the travel bug ever really go away?  There’s so much to explore. This little guy I met in Rajasthan must know what I mean.

I'm Still Here!

Ah, my fellow readers, thank you for your concern! I'm touched. No I am not still stuck with the flu nor do I have the plague as someone wondered. I was preoccupied by some writing assignments that were taking up all my time and energy - but I get to take a break now.

I've still been doing a bit of reporting and enjoying it more and more with each day. The entire day is such an adrenaline rush. While I complain about the same-day deadlines that's where the excitement lies.

So I finally have a budget to bling up my studio some so that's the plan for this week. I'm bringing in a sofa and a writing/art table to my home (I haven't painted anything since the move!). Only then will my space be complete.

More soon.
